Minorgrounds Roofing does not have roofers on staff. When you ask for an estimate, you are put in touch with an independent roofing provider from our network. It is a local business with its own people, trucks, license and insurance.

That means the person on the line speaks for their own company. Any quote, schedule or warranty comes from them, not from us.

What Happens on the First Conversation

Expect a short chat. The provider will likely ask about your roof's age, size and shape, and what is going wrong. They may ask about leaks, missing shingles or storm damage. They will often set up a visit to look at the roof and measure it.

After the visit, ask for a written quote. A phone price alone is only a rough idea. Many providers can respond quickly, but availability varies, so ask about timing early.

What to Ask Before You Hire

Ask every provider the same questions. That makes quotes easier to compare.

• Are you licensed and insured in my state? Can I see proof?
• What exactly does the quote include: tear-off, underlayment, flashing, vents, disposal?
• What brand and line of shingles or other material will you use?
• Who does the work, your crew or a subcontractor?
• How long will the job take, and what happens if weather delays it?
• What warranty do you offer on workmanship, in writing?
• How and when do you expect to be paid?

A good answer is specific and easy to follow. Watch for red flags: pressure to sign today, a big deposit up front, no written details, or reluctance to show proof of insurance.

You Are in Control

Talking to a provider does not commit you to anything. You can ask for several quotes, take time to read them, and say no. You can also ask a provider to work around your family's routine, such as early school drop-offs or remote work calls.

Keep copies of everything. If the scope changes, get it in writing before work continues.
